Dharma Talk: Embodied Awakening
Awakening is the process of realising the interconnected nature of existence—seeing through the illusion of separateness from others, the world, and the universe. This insight liberates us from suffering and aligns us with the truth of impermanence and interdependence. While teachings and practices can guide us, the body is the ground where awakening unfolds, offering a direct experience of the dynamic, ever-changing nature of reality.
However, cultural conditioning, stress, and trauma can often cause us to disconnect from the body, making it difficult to access this truth clearly and directly. Through self-inquiry, mindfulness, and somatic resourcing, we can reconnect with the body and the immediacy of our experience. This reconnection naturally deepens our insight into the interdependent nature of reality. In this embodied presence, we uncover the innate wisdom within, transforming our relationship with life and supporting the unfolding of the awakening process.
Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®) Workshop
I am delighted to invite you to participate in my next Tension and Trauma Release TRE® Workshop coming up on Saturday 23 November 2024 in Avalon, NSW.
Tension and Trauma Release Exercises TRE® is a wonderful method that supports the release of deeply held patterns of tension, stress and even trauma. Also, it supports deepening the connection with your body and mind, leading to a greater sense of presence, grounding and ease. The TRE® Workshops are a great opportunity for you to learn and experience the TRE® method within safe and nourishing environment.
A little bit of background...
When we feel under stress or in danger, our body releases stress hormones and increases blood flow to specific muscles of our body to prepare us to either fight or run away. An important set of muscles used in this process is the psoas (also known as hip flexor muscle), which stand guard to protect the centre of gravity of the human body.
During any traumatic or stressful experience, the psoas muscles contract in order to protect the body from harm. When the psoas muscle doesn’t return to a relaxed state after the stressful event, they remain vulnerable to continued stimulation from even minor amounts of stress, setting up a vicious cycle of endless stress and anxiety as well as psychosomatic problems.
What is TRE®?
TRE® consist of six gentle exercises that are designed to stress the psoas muscle that reply purely on the body’s natural ability to trigger tremors. This releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this natural mechanism is activated in a safe environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance. This therapeutic tremoring helps the body release deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and even trauma.
What to expect on the day
The session will include an introduction and explanation about TRE, space for any questions you might have. I will then start the exercises followed by some time for tremoring and movement. The session will finish with a guided meditation and closing circle. Below are the details for the session:
Date: Saturday 23rd November 2024
Location: Balanced Studio - Entrance via Rear Lane, Studio 101/70 Old Barrenjoey Rd, Avalon Beach NSW 2107
Time: 10:30-12:00pm
Cost: $40

Dharma Talk: Awakening from Delusion: Understanding Dependent Arising and the Nature of Suffering
Dependent Arising teaches us that all phenomena arise and fade through interconnected causes and conditions, a core understanding that leads to freedom. Delusion - a central theme in this teaching - keeps us stuck in cycles of suffering, as we cling to the idea of a fixed, separate self. By examining how this delusion shows up in daily life, we can begin to see the conditions that obscure our understanding, keeping us trapped in attachment and fear. Through mindfulness and self-inquiry, we can learn to shift our perspective, gradually developing insight into the nature of existence.
Living Mindfully: 8-Week Mindfulness and Meditation Course
This 8-week course is an opportunity for you to gain a deep understanding of the foundations of mindfulness, specifically through the lens of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness as taught in the Satipatthana Sutta. In addition to these ancient teachings, you will learn to integrate contemporary wisdom practices into your daily life.
Throughout the course, you’ll acquire tools for developing compassion toward yourself and others, learn to skilfully engage with difficult emotions and situations, and cultivate a kinder and wiser relationship with yourself and the world around you.
Whether you are just beginning your mindfulness practice or wish to deepen it further, this eight-week course will provide you with the techniques and tools to weave mindfulness into your everyday experiences—at work, at home, in family life, and on the meditation cushion.
Each week will focus on a different aspect of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, while also incorporating modern practices. You’ll receive guided meditations, reflective inquiry, journaling exercises, and home practices designed to keep you engaged and motivated throughout the course.
Who is this Course For?
This course is for anyone who is interested in deepening self-awareness, gaining a better understanding of the effects of stress on the mind and the body, calming the overthinking mind, responding to stressful situations in a wiser way, or simply wanting to be more present to life and relationships.

Dharma Talk: Trauma and the Spiritual Path
Trauma impacts many (if not most) of us, on both individual as well as collective levels. These impacts will not only be felt within our physiology expressed through unstable emotional life, nervous system dysregulation and inability to feel safe in the world, but it also shows up as profound sense of disconnection from our body, from the earth and from one another. When trauma is present, it is hard to truly see the interconnected nature of things - one of the biggest causes of human suffering.
Meditation is an extremely important pathway for trauma healing, alongside building safety within through trusting and safe relationships. Although, when not approached skilfully and tailored to our needs, it can lead to further harm or even re-traumatisation.
In this talk, I will speak about the physiology of trauma and why we should be cautious when practicing meditation. I will also dive into the shadow side of the spiritual path when there is still unprocessed trauma.
Whether you are a student of meditation or a teacher/facilitator, this topic is of great importance for ensuring safety within spiritual communities.

Tension and Trauma Release (TRE®) Class
I am delighted to invite you to participate in my next TRE Class coming up on Saturday 27th May in Mona Vale.
The TRE sessions are a great opportunity to release deeply held patterns of tension and stress, as well as to deepen connection with your body and mind, leading to greater ease, groundedness and presence.
What is TRE?
TRE consist of six gentle exercises that are designed to stress the psoas muscle that reply purely on the body’s natural ability to trigger tremors. This releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this natural mechanism is activated in a safe environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance. This therapeutic tremoring helps the body release deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and even trauma.
What to expect on the day
The session will last for about 90min, it will include an introduction and explanation about TRE, space for any questions you might have. I will then start the exercises followed by some time for tremoring and movement. The session will finish with a guided meditation, closing circle and optional cuppa after! Below are the details for the session:
Date: Saturday 27th May 2023

Time: 10:00-11:30am
Cost: $25
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have anu questions. I would love to see you there!
